The personification of the moon from the Bellifortis by Conradus Kyeser, France (Alsace), vers. ca. 1460. The Bellifortis contains personifications of several planets, the sun, and the moon as alchemical symbols. In this context, the moon corresponded to the metal silver, femininity, care, and courteousness, but also carelessness and laziness.
